I’m totally hooked on George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones series despite my general lack of interest in fantasy. Unfortunately, as a result, all I want to do is stay home and read, but alas there are far too many other things to do. Nevertheless, it’s nice to be so engrossed in a book.

@Shaun I can’t really imagine getting into the show. It seems like it would need to run for dozens of years before even getting through one book, let alone the whole series. Do let me know though.

A very good friend of mine is in the process of writing a fantasy series. Like you, I’m not that into fantasy. I gotta say, the first draft was a bit of a chore to read. But she took suggestions from the beta testers, and the secod draft of book one was really a page turner. She’s apparently got at least seven books under construction. I really hope the world gets a chance to read it.
