Last night Stephanie and I went to the International Literature Festival and saw Gary Shteyngart speak. After answering some questions from the moderator, he read from his newest book, but unfortunately only for 10 minutes. A german voice actor reread that section and continued on for another half an hour. While I really enjoyed Shteyngart’s reading, it seemed ridiculous that he spent a majority of the time sitting next to someone reading his book, especially when he had done such a good job. I guess that’s one of the prices we pay for living in Germany.
